Australia considers TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic scores of visa applicants from November 2014

Australia Department of Immigration and Border protection has declared that, from November 2014, the English language test scores of PTE Academic and TOEFL iBT of visa applicants would be accepted as an alternative across many visa categories.

The test scores of the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) and Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based test (TOEFL iBT) will be accepted as alternatives to current English Language Testing System, or IELTS, and Occupational English Test, or OET, tests.

Since 2011, Student visa programs are accepting the test scores of PTE Academic and TOEFL iBT, which will now be extended to the visa subclasses from Skilled, Temporary Graduate, work and Holiday visa programs.

The new option has been extended to several visa categories including business Innovation & Investment, skilled - Recognized Graduate, Employer Nomination Scheme, Skilled - Independent, Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme, work and Holiday (temporary), Temporary Graduate and skilled – Nominated.
