Australia to grant its tourist visa to Saudi

As per news reports, Australian Minister of Trade and Investment Andrew Robb has stated in a formal, written communication to the CSC (Council of Saudi Chambers) that Saudi nationals would now be receiving their tourist visas within 48 hours (i.e. 2 days). In the same formal communication, the minister revealed his country’s desire to put in joint efforts with the relevant departments in/of Saudi Arabia to provide for a similar privilege for businessmen from Australia.

He averred that such a reciprocal measure would encourage trade, investment, etc. between the two countries. He also added that his government would support the revival of free trade between Australia and the gulf Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC). The minister was appreciative of the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) for hosting him and the team/delegation accompanying him, in April, implying that this visit had resulted in positive results and forward movement. He also stated that the formation/establishment of the Saudi-Australian Business Council shows and demonstrates the commonalities between the two countries and their joint commitment to provide further momentum to their trade relations

Mr. Robb praised the contribution of the CSC towards furthering the trade and other related relationships between the two countries. He stated there were many areas in which complementarities existed between the two countries and these included the areas of investment, education and tourism, food and agriculture. He also affirmed that Australia was open to Saudi investment from both Saudi companies as well as sovereign funds.
