Expat Cost of living in Sydney decreases from the previous year

Sydney become less expensive for expat living

According to the global cost of living survey by ECA international shows that Sydney is becoming less expensive to make a living for expats which is not the case in the past.

Sydney ranked at 57 most expensive locations in the list, which is slipped down from the rank of 38 of the previous year and of 17 rank before to last year. Sydney also stood at the rank of 30 within the Asia Pacific region.

The other cities of Australia ranked in global top 100 are Canberra with 63rd rank following Melbourne at 68, Perth at 74, Adelaide at 77, Brisbane at 78 and Darwin in 80.

With the increase of prices in the measure of ECA global basket and weakening of the Australian dollar against major currencies of the world. The country become more affordable to any company when it relocates their staff, According to ECA international.

At the same time, the cost for Australian businesses which sends employees to other countries on any international consignment has risen up, as they have to bear any increased allowance on their stay.

The survey measures the basket based on the purchases of expat consumer goods and services and compares it with around 440 locations worldwide. Some of the living costs such as accommodation, rentals, utilities, school fees and car purchases are not included in the living basket. But, it covers in the special category of allowances.

Overall, shanghai become the most expensive location in the Asia pacific region ranked ten among the global world rankings.
