Hong Kong, Germany sign MOU on usage of automated clearance service
Hong Kong and Federal Republic of Germany have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) concerned with the automated clearance service usage on a shared basis.
The MOU is considered as a new milestone in the collaboration between the countries in immigration related matters. It is expected that the implementation of automated clearance service on a shared basis would ease the travelling facilities for passport holders of Germany and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). In addition to this, the passport holders of HKSAR will be facilitated to visit countries of Schengen area via Germany. Further, the business, trade and relationship between Germany and Hong Kong are expected to get enhanced.
Germany is the first European country that has signed a MOU to mutually use automated clearance service with Hong Kong. Republic of Korea is the first co-operation partner of Hong Kong on this facet followed by Germany.
