Hong Kong UK's working holiday scheme

Hong Kong's Labour Department (LD) has declared the commencement of an additional round to register in the certificate of sponsorship or CoS under the Hong Kong/United Kingdom (UK) Working Holiday Scheme from 19 June 2014 and ends on 2 July 2014. 

Young individuals with Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) passports and are looking to apply for Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) visa to UK are eligible to register to LD form and secure a CoS. 

This working holiday scheme is based on an agreement between UK and Hong Kong. It allows young individuals in Hong Kong to submit an application for a visa which will let them live in the UK for two year period. During this period, they can work to finance themselves during the duration of their residence, study courses that are self financed and/or also take part in volunteer services. 

Each year a quota of 1,000 is grated for individuals possessing HKSAR passports in addition to a valid CoS. The applicants must meet a number of criteria to be eligible for this scheme and some of these are: he/she ought to be a ordinary resident of Hong Kong having a proper HKSAR passport or British National (Overseas) (BN(O)) passport; he/she ought to be between 18 and 30 years of age; must possess a departure ticket, and also enough funds to support his/her initial period of stay, and the applicant should hold medical or healthcare insurance during their stay
