India to initiate E-visa from this October

Indian Government has plans to introduce e-visa system starting October 2014.

Tourism minister, Sripad Naik said that the scheme will be launched in various phases with no reservations for Home and External Affairs ministries.

The facility of e-visa will be extended to all the nations excluding the 10 countries, which include Somalia, Sri Lanka, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Sudan and Pakistan, according to the plan. 

The minister said that system of hotel classification has been eased to issue required licenses and certificates of no objection for a range of tourism services.

Until now 12 states have been arranged with tourist police to ensure the safety of the tourists, he added.
