The Quebec government has promulgated that it would get a maximum of 6,300 applications for  a Quebec Selection Certificate under the Quebec Skilled Worker Program, which is scheduled to reopen later this year.

Presumably, the limit of a recent application cycle that was filled within a period of four months between 1 April and 30 July 2014 was 6,500. The new regulations about the acceptance of and processing of new applications for QSWP (Quebec Skilled Worker Program) were likely to be promulgated by 1 April 2015. While the Quebec government has promulgated that the new rules will be in force during 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016. However, the precise date for applications intake for QSWP has not yet specified.

One more significant detail is whether any changes to the current points-grid would be made. In January, 2015, the Canadian province revealed the Area of Training list that would apply to the impending application cycle for QSWP. An updated points-grid was promulgated in December. It should be further seen whether any extra reforms to the program would be made prior to it begins obtaining applications.

Quebec immigration through Quebec Skilled Worker Program is a dual step process. The prospective applicants are assessed under a points based system, which allots them points for skills such as age, education level, work experience, area of training, proficiency in English language, relations to the province as well as valid job offer from an employer in Quebec. If applicable, candidates are also awarded points for the characteristics of their spouse or common-law partner as well as dependent children.

Prospective applicants who submit a complete and precise application are granted with a Quebec Selection Certificate, at that point they can apply for Canadian PR visa.

An applicant might be excluded from the cap if he or she is eligible for submitting application under the Quebec experience program or has enclosed a valid job offer with application for a selection certificate which was submitted under Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP). Applicants are even exempted from the cap, if they has been intimated by Canada Citizenship and Immigration (CIC) that it has accepted to process their Canada PR applications or if they are a short-term resident holder and are qualified to submit an application for Certificat de selection du Quebec.
