South Africa sets down new visa regulations

The South African tourism department will launch new regulations that necessitate travelers visiting the country to acquire biometric visa in-person with an aim to strengthen security and avoid child trafficking.

The new regulation requires parents to produce complete birth certificate of the travelling child, who is below 18 years, and foreigners traveling to South Africa as well as South Africans to present the details of the child’s parents.  Another regulation includes that traveler belonging to a country that need a visa will have to acquire a biometric visa personally.

South African government has given consent to extend the date of implementation of the new regulations till 01 October 2014 so that the organizations of tourism will have sufficient time to approach home affairs and departments of tourism without affecting local tourism.
