Australian visa rules

Rumours are rife that Australia is most likely to relax the stringent immigration laws. It is known that hundreds of visa applications are pending at the high commission over the existing tight visa policies. The sources said that over 90% applicants are from China and entrepreneurs by profession who intend to invest in Australia.

Notably, there’s already a Significant Visa Investor Scheme that’s in place. The eighteen-month old visa scheme states that it would permit the entry and residency of overseas nationals if they prove that they would invest at least $5m in Australia. The Australian Government has, in fact, designed this programme to raise at least $6bn annually through investments.

Now that there are many pending applications, the sources said that the government may take steps to reduce the investment figure and relax the laws so that it can witness the entry of significant number of Chinese investors to Australia. The government is, however, yet to ascertain the sae.
