Taiwan Visa-free regime to Indians cruising via star cruises

Taiwan tourism has executed a visa-free regime for Indians sailing through star cruises beginning January 2015. Three sailings are expected in the first six months of 2015. Additionally, the scheme is being amended and new paths and cruise lines will be added in the coming days, stated Arthur Hsieh, Director, Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Singapore Office. 

Hsieh was speaking on the sidelines of a four-city roadshow, which was started in New Delhi. Over 65 tour operators have attended the event. The road show will be organized in Kolkata, followed by Chennai and Mumbai.

The country head of India, Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Noel Saxena stated that India is one among the top source markets for Taiwan. He added that in India they have plans to promote adventure, shopping, landscape and Festival Tourism to Taiwan in the coming three months. Further, they will be holding online training programs for travel agents of India in March. 

Focusing on the same, Taiwan Tourism will be promoting Taiwan Lantern Festival, Cycling Festival, Ghost Festival, Taiwan Hot Spring and Fine-Cuisine Carnival and Sun Moon Lake Fireworks Festival. 

Saxena stated that Meetings, Incentives, Conventions/Conferences, Exhibitions (MICE) is another part that is gaining popularity in the Indian market. They are working hard to make Taiwan the number one destination in Asia in the coming three years.   

Sources stated that Taiwan has received more than 32,000 Indian visitors in 2014, a 30 percent when compared to previous year. And, this year they expect to see a 15 percent growth in the Indian tourist arrivals.

Apparently, Indian tourists who hold a valid Schengen, UK, Japan, USA, Australia visa is allowed to a 30-day exemption from a Taiwan visa by presenting a form to that effect online.
