A new application centre for visas, which is intended to provide upgraded services with modern facilities, has been opened at Kolkata on 19th March, 2014.
The British Deputy High Commissioner to eastern India, Scott Furssedonn-Wood has said that the latest facility at the application centre marks a significant improvement, in delivering services to the visa applicants.
He also said that there has been a consistent growth in the number of applications for United Kingdom visas from the residents of Kolkata. Consequently, the UK government is aiming to provide the best visa services to the Indian applicants
VFS Global accepts the visa applications from the applicants. Its partnership with UK has now been extended until 2019.
The British High Commission in New Delhi assesses all the applications submitted.
The processes involved in submitting the application, the status of the filed application and similar such processes will be provided on a devoted website .The visa application centre will also provide responsive and professional staff, who are capable of speaking the local language.
The UK government has declared that it would be enhancing its service of 'Passport Passback' to all the places in India. According to this service, there will be facilities that allow the visa applicants to keep their passports with them, during the time of making the decisions on the visa.
