US brings changes to immigration system for Bangladeshi nationals

In a bid to woo Bangadeshi immigrants to the United States, the US high commission has rolled out a new visa processing system that would enable the nationals to understand the visa interview instructions in Bangla apart from English.

The US acting assistant secretary for consular affairs, Michele Thoren Bond has said that this move was an effort to felicitate better services to their Bangla customers.

She has also said that the change in the processing system would essentially include simplification of visa interview appointment schedule.

Further, she observed that the number of Bangladesh nationals applying for US visa rose significantly due to increasing middle class. As many as 30,000 immigrants were issued to Bangladeshi nationals last year, she said.

The applicants, under the new system, can simply logon to www.USTravelDocs.com and schedule the visa interviews online.
