Vietnam eases visa rules to woo travelers

In a bid to woo more Indian travelers to Vietnam, Vietnam has simplified visa process. The tourism board of Vietnam is expected to increase the tourist arrivals count by two times from India to one lakh in the impeding year.

The Vietnamese Ambassador to India, Ton Sinh Thanh, said that the country is also planning to lure travelers, even from other parts of Asia. In the previous three years, visitors from India have increased at 300% and the government is likely to have one lakh travelers by 2016.

He said that the country has eased the visa process, ensuring that Indian travelers obtain visa within a period of three days. He added that individuals who are applying for an express visa can even obtain the visa 24 hours prior to their travel at 30% additional fees.

As per the World Travel & Tourism Council, around 7.9 million tourists entered Vietnam, of which Indians accounted 0.7%. On the other hand, India receives almost 7 million visitors each year.
