YMCA gears up to assist undocumented immigrants

In a bid that is set to bring smiles on the faces of undocumented citizens in Champaign County, the University of Illinois has come forward to assist such undocumented citizens for free, to seek citizenship.

Briefing more on the same to the media, the university officials have said that YMCA was offering this assistance, which would be open Mondays and Wednesdays between 9am and 12pm.

Christened The New Americans’ Initiative, the program would essentially include filling out questionnaires besides gathering the necessary documents.

It may be noted that Champaign Country has been in the news for quite some time over a large number of foreign-born citizens and undocumented immigrants.

Anyone interested to avail this program can directly approach the YMCA of the university. Also, those who would like to be of some help to the YMCA can volunteer, which could be right from publicity to translation of documents.
