The Government of Canada conducted the second Express Entry draw for the year on Jan 23rd, and also issued 3900 Invitations to candidates seeking permanent residence. The minimum CRS score necessary was just 443 points, which is the lowest in the year. For the previous 108th Express Entry Draw
it invited 3900 candidates and the minimum CRS score was 449.
Continuing a similar trend
Similar to the draws in the past it applied the tie-break rule in this draw also. The date/time for the draw was 03:55:26 UTC on January 2, 2019. All candidates submitting the EE profile before this specific date/time received the invitation to seek the PR. Additionally; this draw takes the total number of invitations issued by IRCC in this year to 7800. This also serves as a record for the ITAs issued as on January 23, in any year after launching the EE system in 2015.
CRS score is low
Another important fact is that the minimum CRS score in this draw was six points below the previous draw of Jan 10. The reason here is that the gap between two draws held was only two weeks.
Furthermore, there is a hope that Canada will invite many candidates in the Express Entry in the next 2-3 years, by maintaining the score requirements at the present level or still below it. Moreover, the updated Immigration Level- Plan of the country for 2019-2021, plans to admit 256,000 new PRs totally in Canada. It will use three economic immigration programs under the supervision of the Express Entry. These are
• Canadian Experience Class,
• Federal Skilled Worker Class,
• Federal Skilled Trades Class
PNP is also attractive
Furthermore, there is a plan to attract 200,000 fresh permanent residents through the Provincial Nominee Programs in the plan period. The EE candidates receiving such provincial nomination will also get an additional 600 CRS points. Finally, this will serve as a guarantee to get the Invitation to Apply for PR in a subsequent draw.
