117th Draw in Canada Express Entry - 500 Skilled Candidates Invited

IRCC conducted its 117th Express Entry draw on May 15 that was specific to a single program. It also invited 500 candidates to seek Canadian permanent residence.

During the 116th Express Entry Draw held on May 1st, Canada issued 3,350 invitations for the applicants to seek PR. The least CRS for 116th draw was 450 points.

Additionally, the selected candidates belonged to the Federal Skilled Trades Program. The least CRS score here was only 332. The Federal Skilled Trades Program is a Federal Immigration Program administered in the Express Entry system. It permits qualified international tradespersons for settling in Canada on a permanent basis. Moreover, similar to the previous draws, the authorities applied the tie-break mechanism in this draw. The specific time and date were Aug 29, 2018/8:32:03 UTC. Candidates meeting the minimum CRS standards of 332, and submitting their EE profiles before the specific date/time got the priority in this round.

This draw was the tenth Express Entry draw for the year. So far Canada has issued 31750 Invitations to Apply in its Express Entry system.

This is not the first instance that IRCC conducted a program-specific draw. There were draws permitting Canada to send invitations to candidates to fill up specific labor shortages in major sectors.

The candidates of the remaining Express Entry economic immigration programs (Federal Skilled Workers and Canadian Experience Class) should not worry. Such specific draws come before a draw featuring all programs and generally have a low CRS cut-off threshold.
