357 overseas tourists obtained visa-on-arrival at Dabolim

After the 10 days of initiation of the VoA (visas-on-arrival) facility program, authorities of one of the Goa airport at Dabolim promulgated 357 visas to overseas nationals. The new scheme of VoA has been introduced by minister of home affairs on 27 November 2014 and has been put into practice on December 4 at Dabolim airport.

Around 43 nations were given the permission to make use of this facility and Goa is one among other nine airports that has been chosen for offering Visa-on-arrival amenity. Till today, Dabolim airport has distributed visas to the tourists of nations like Germany (7), Ukraine (183), USA (4), Jordan (3), Singapore (1) and Russia (154). Apart from this, few of the overseas nationals of New Zealand, Australia, Philippines and Israel were also issued the VoA.

Director of the department of tourism Mr. Ameya Abhyankar IAS expressed his view that this new scheme would surge the tourism along with the overseas national’s inflow from 43 nations.

Airport director K S Rao told that, only after receiving of notification from central, they have started issuing the visas from  4 December. The concerned authorities at airport are expecting large inflow during the New Year and Christmas vacation. 

All overseas nationals can avail this facility within ten to fifteen minutes after landing in the countries’ airport. Director K S Rao revealed that all the preparations required for issuing of VoA for visitors were done in advance. He further added that, if they don’t find much rush in the airport, the concerned authorities would get VoA in 15 minutes on submission of required documents.
