Australia promises New Zealand to speed up appeals for Kiwis facing deportations

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has promised New Zealand Prime Minister to fast track the appeal process for the citizens of New Zealand who are facing deportation from Australia. He said that he is alert and empathetic to New Zealand’s concerns about the issue.

One Kiwi on average is being deported from Australia daily under the new and tough immigration laws that are targeting the overseas nationals who had served in prison for a year or more.

Mr. Turnbull said that the process of appeal will be made faster and it will be accelerated, and that will be giving more administrative resources to it. He also said that the numbers are expected to get decline once the immigration department starts working through the backlog of cases.

He said that the law applies to all visitors but also said that he was emphatic to the concerns from New Zealand. As he do understands the problem and how it is being perceived in New Zealand. - He said.

New Zealand Prime Minister told that there should be some compassion to be shown and hoped that the Aussie PM will take the matter into account.

Turnbull also announced that the Kiwis who are living in Australia since the childhood would be given student loan access for the first time in the next year. Under the plan, the citizen of New Zealand who has been living in Australia since ten years would be eligible for the loan for helping them to study in Australia from next year.
