In a step taken for boosting the number of students from India who seek to study in the UK, the nation had announced around 300 latest scholarships which are worth over 1.5 million pounds during the 2016-17.
According to Sajid Javid, British Secretary of State for Business, Skills and Innovation, around 300 latest scholarships for the students from India would be given in the month of September 2016. Scholarships of worth 3000-5000 pounds would be offered to the students for admissions in over 40 universities in the UK.
According to a report, he said that his nation was committed for supporting the Indian Prime Minister’s aim of prepare young Indians for the 21st century. He announced the beginning of campaign at the British Council which is known as ‘2016 UK-India Year of Education Innovation and Research (UKIERI)’.
Javid also announced the exchange program for facilitating the internships of British students in 10 universities in India. According to him, the graduate students from the UK would arrive and teach in the schools of India for some period of time.
The minister also told that a yearlong UKIERI campaign will highlight the mutual benefits and strength of the bilateral relations over a range of education enable with digital technology and training incentives. The Department of Business, Skills and Innovation and Ministry of Human Resource Development of India would be the important players in the campaign.
The officials of the Chevening fellowship has said that the Indian student numbers who are visiting for Britain for education had decreased because of the revise visa policy of the UK government though many students who had now applied had got the visa. According to them, around 90% of the applicants who had opted for education in the UK had got the visa.
