According to the chief of Australia’s one of the biggest technology company, there are not many Australian citizens available for maintaining the country’s online economy and that the immigration rules shall be loosened for allowing the firms to import foreign web workers.

Tracey Fellows, REA Group chief executive, told that Australia is now taped out of the IT graduates and it means that the main inhibitor to the firm’s growth was accessing the talent to the engineer and maintaining its websites.

According to Ms Fellows, REA was able to find around 100 programmers for its Chinese subsidiary, but searching for five developers in Australia took nearly months.

She also praised the FTA, which was recently struck with countries like Japan, China and Korea, but she also said that the government required enhancing the mobility of the labour across the Asian region for helping the firms.

Despite the technology firms being at the middle of the digital revolution with strong prospects of growth, Ms Fellows told that the IT and engineering were not tempting options of career for the local students.

But she told that in China these jobs are highly regarded and its universities were also helping them to meet the demand. She also said that they are well-known brand and they are well-known employer that provide thrilling and interesting work for the people who likes to work with and they also pays well.

Ms Fellows made these comments after statement from Stephen Martin, CEDA chief executive, that the government will enlarge the agreement of the labour mobility it shares with New Zealand to the nations in Asian regions.

Martin also told that Australia has been the education destination for the brightest and best-talented students from some of the Asian countries for previous 50 years. And now that Australia shall be able to tap into that talent.

According to Martin, just as the agreement of travel which enabled the movement of workers and enlarged the pool of skills which is available between Australia and New Zealand.  Australia can benefit from the activity in search of the free labour mobility between other suitable nations.

According to him, Australia will require to progress with caution but this type of the agreement does have the potential for delivering the benefits.

Under the Australia-China FTA, an Australian firm that has contract with the Chinese firm to supply the service in Australia could use Chinese workers.

In the absence of Chinese contract, the firm can access the 457 visas for filling the shortage of labours after proving that it can’t find the Australian workers for doing the job.
