Canada Adds 54000 New Jobs in the Market in September

In the Canada job market, 54000 new jobs were created, during September 2019. Simultaneously, unemployment declined to 5.5 percent.

Canada Job Growth is Impressive


The country offers several job opportunities and there is a favorable and growth oriented environment for career making it the most attractive destination favoring the skilled immigrants. Also, during the third quarter of 2019, there was an addition of 111000 new jobs in the market.  Furthermore, in the last 12 months, the total number of new jobs created was 456000, as per the Market Survey for Labors by Statistics Canada. This growth was mainly strong in Ontario, by adding 41000 fresh jobs in September.

Moreover, the growth was concentrated in the age group of 25 years to 54 years. For men in the group the addition was 36000 jobs in September, and for women it was 33000 jobs. The rate of unemployment among the working-age for men stood at 4.4 percent and is the lowest to be recorded after 1979. 

Job Figures are Positive


In the core working age for women there was decline in unemployment by 0.3 percentage standing at 4.2 percent. The growth in these categories was 134,000 for men and 78,999 for women in the last year.

Ontario had a high level of job growth and the gains in employment were mostly in full-time work. There was decline in unemployment rate in Ontario by 0.3 percentage standing at 5.3 last year, and the rate of employment had an increase by 3.5 percent corresponding to 253000 in the period.

Quebec, and British Columbia, had a low unemployment in the provinces. In Quebec the rate of unemployment was 4.8 percent, adding 13, 600 jobs. Simultaneously , employment increased by 3200 jobs in Nova Scotia in the last one month, and also the rate of unemployment decreased by 0.7 percentage standing at 7.2 percent.

Provincial Job Figures


In Newfoundland & Labrador and in Manitoba the unemployment rate dropped in September.

In the Industrial break up, healthcare and social assistance sectors were at the top adding fresh jobs. In September this sector made an addition of 30000 jobs. Last year, the growth in employment in the sector was 108000 (4.5 per cent).

Accommodation and food services industry sector also had gains in employment during September. It added 23000 jobs in September. There was growth in self-employed workers last month standing at 42000 that caused the increase of 106000 fresh jobs in the past year. Public sector added 33000 in September, and 67000 in the past 12 months. Finally, the private sector had no change in employment rate during September and the number of employees added 283,000 in the past year.
