The system of Express Entry did not become the single opportunity, but the provincial programs came in with their different paths, also the sponsorship of spouse was also the choice for the vested immigrants.

Express Entry System

Last year, the Canadian federal government had started the Express Entry System; it is an application bank where qualified candidates are ranked based on points that are being awarded for the qualifications. The applicants require making sure that their profile is listed in the pool of the system. The points gained was the key concern for the applicants, as there cutoff score for each draw. If at all the applicant did not meet this cutoff score, he will not be considered for the draw has to wait until the cutoff score decrease.

According to the CIC, the CRS point condition has declined for each of four draws of express entry that has taken place since the month of October from 489 to 484, to 472 and then to 461. The number of applicants that are invited to apply are increasing with a high number applicants expected to be accepted this year. The number of invitations granted for every round is expected to rise as the inventory of application for the pre express entry has been finalized.

Provincial programs

Every territory and province runs its own immigration program known as the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). One can apply for the PNP alone, but many provinces had also aligned their programs with the federal system the previous year, wanting the applicants to apply through the system of Express Entry.

In some regions, the programs were so popular and due to this the period of intake was made short. In the other regions many applicants led to many periods of intake. Saskatchewan re-opened its program for skilled workers four times with its threshold reaching within days every time, and Nova Scotia also re-opens its program.

Quebec

Quebec will start accepting the new round of applications from 18th January 2016 for its skilled worker program (QSWP). Investors has also got some time till 29th January 2016 to apply for the Quebec Investor Program (QIP).

Parents and Grandparents

This high popular program would be reopened from 4th January, under this (PGP)program, the parents and grandparents of the citizens of Canada are eligible for the permanent residency of Canada.
