Canada overhauls Post-Graduation Work Permit Program for International Students

International students intending to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit will get six months period for applying. This is a positive development after they obtain the final marks. Moreover, they will need a valid study permit. There was an announcement regarding these changes on February 14, besides other modifications in the PGWP.  Additionally, this extension increases the time recent which graduates have for applying to Program from 90 days earlier to 180 days now. IRCC says that a study permit must only be valid at some point in the 180 days which graduates have for submitting the PGWP application.

A PG Work Permit is open allowing the global graduates from eligible Canadian learning institutions for staying and working in Canada for three years after they complete their studies. The eligibility norms require that the study program of the candidate must be of eight months duration. Besides they also have to meet other criteria.

Skilled work experience in Canada obtained in PGWP helps global graduates to qualify for PR through the CEC. Furthermore, it is a Federal High Skilled program run by the Express Entry system in Canada.
