E-Tourist visa had pulled over 550 foreign tourists arrival in two months

India has witnessed an increase of whopping 145% in the overseas tourists arrival numbers on e-tourist visa in two months. This was seen at the airport of Gujarat’s capital city Ahmedabad. Around 228 tourist had came through the e-tourist visa in the month of September and the number has increased to 560 in the month of October.

In this year’s August month, all the seven airports in India had received the approval for e-tourist visa permitting the citizens from around 113 nations to get benefitted from the scheme.  Among the seven airports across India that had received this facility, Ahmedabad stood at second place in terms of tourist arrivals on e-tourist visa in the month of October, which was followed by Jaipur with 158 people, Tiruchirapalli with 119, Gaya with 45 and 13 each in Luckhnow and Varanasi. Amritsar was leading and had got the highest number of tourists among the latest airports with around 869 tourists.

The immigration bureau (BoI) has started three counters in the area of arrival of foreign terminal of Ahmedabad airport, especially for tourists who arrives on e-tv.

Arrivals of overseas travelers in India in the month of October 2015 were 6.80 lakh when compared to around 6.68 lakh during the same period previous year.  Among these, around 12,648 overseas students had arrived in Indian state of Gujarat through airport in Ahmedabad.  Registering an augment of around 73% over arrivals in September month in Ahmedabad.

The large number of travelers who had benefited from this e-tourist visa facility at Ahmedabad airport  had arrived from the countries like the UK and the US , Germany, France, Canada, Australia and Russia.

According to Union Tourism Ministry, 2.5 lakh overseas travelers had visited the Indian state of Gujarat, in the year 2014, with an increase of 18.49% when compared to the year 2013. 

Previously, the facility of e- tourist visa was accessible at nine airports all across India and that includes Chennai, Bengaluru, Goa, Delhi, Kochi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram.
