Myanmar introduces e-visa facility to its travelers

In a bit to fuel tourism in the country, the immigration authorities of Myanmar have introduced online electronic e-visa for foreign travelers, which facilitated them to obtain e-visa within a period of five days.

The hotels and tourist authorities revealed that 1.6 million tourists transited to Myanmar over the initial seven months of this year, marking an increase of 43% during the same period of last year.   

Over the years, the number of tourists visiting Myanmar has grown significantly and the country is planning to attract at least three million travelers in 2015 and more than seven million by the year 2020. Additionally, the foreign exchange earnings through tourism have increased from 534 to 926 million U.S. dollars during the period of 2012 to 2013, which is expected to exceed one billion US dollars in 2014.  

Out of all the foreign travelers, 70% of people are heading from Asia followed by Europe, America, Africa and the Middle East.
