US State Department announces unavailability of EB5 visas for China

The State Department of the US has proclaimed that the Chinese nationals will not be permitted to attain EB-5 immigrant visas, effective 23 August 2014 to 30 September 2014, after which new Fiscal Year 2015 (FY 2015) will begin.

The US State Department has made this announcement as the predicted number representing 10,000 visas have been availed by the nationals of China in this category.

This announcement remains ineffective for the investors and dependent family members who have filed their applications for immigrant visas overseas and whose interview has been planned. It means that the immigrant visas have already set aside for them. Whereas, the investors and eligible relatives whose applications related to immigrant visas have not been arranged for an appointment by a Consular post of  the United States will neither be processed nor planned for appointment, until the upcoming fiscal year that is from 1 October 2014.

The Immigration Service of the US will keep on accepting the US Status Adjustment applications based on authorized petitions of I-526 . Nevertheless, these applications will not be processed right away instead will be prolonged till the visas become available.

Through this, the U.S. State Department is planning to manage the availability of immigrant visas to applicants in the FY 2015.
