The biometric information will be recorded and then stored for around 59 months that makes almost five years removing the requirement for the applicants for coming in person again for renewal of their visa.

The recorded biometric information will be valid for the above mentioned period for all the countries  that come under the Schengen Areas, the information that is recorded by any country under this Schengen Area would be valid for France during the mentioned period.

The visitor needs to come only once for having their photo and fingerprints taken. The visa could be obtained by the applicant or by any other authorized person.

The biometric transition will not affect the period of visa issuance, for India it is 48 hours in some cities and 72 hours in some other cases. The biometric transition will not affect the visa fees that will remain unchanged. Countries like US and the UK has been implementing the biometrics in India.
