For this Umrah season, the Consulate of Saudi Arabia in Dubai has so far issued almost 37,000 Umrah visas.
For performing Umrah, on daily basis the consulate office receives nearly 1,500 applications, according to senior official.
Executive in charge of the Umram visa permits, Hussain Rukn, said the applications are filed in the Northern Emirates and Dubai and by Umrah and Haj tour operators.
According to Hussain Rukn, the huge rush for Umrah permits is because of holiday season. But, most applications that are received are from citizens of Asia.
Hussain confirmed that the received applications for performing Umrah will never be turned down by the consulate. All applications that are received are forwarded for approval to the Ministry of Haj, in Saudi Arabia. Every application that is received for Umrah visa is processed simply in 3 minutes. All the 32 Umrah accredited tour operators can only submit 50 applications per a day.
Hussain also made clear that ongoing construction work near the holy mosque in Makkah will not have any impact on the issue of number of visa permits.
Unlike Haj applications, the number Umrah applications issued will not have any limitations, as Umrah process is streamlined a number of years ago.
