Hyderabad Students travelling to US 5th highest in the world

On 26th August, 2016, the US consulate general in Hyderabad announced that the city of Nizams has the fifth highest number of students travelling to the United States of America for studies in the world. The official statement was made by Michele Bond, assistant secretary of state for consular affairs on Friday while speaking with the press. She said that the student visas issued at the US consulate, Hyderabad are fifth highest in the world and the highest in the country.

Bond also said that a huge number of students from India are pursuing their studies at the various universities in America. She further added that the Indian students comprise the 2nd largest community of students in the US with more than 132000 students.

Across the globe there are more than 200 US consulates and embassies across the globe.

A total of 60,000 US visas were issued in 2015 with majority being issued by the US consulate general in Hyderabad. Although the figures were not disclosed but the assistant secretary stated that Hyderabad "is a winner".

It is not only the student visas that are majorly granted to the Indians but the H1-B visas too. Approximately 138000 H1-B visas are sanctioned every year across the world and Indians get 70% of them (H1-B visas).
