The Province of Ontario has issued nominations to 6850 applicants to seek PR in Canada during 2018, as per a recent report. Candidates belonging to Express Entry received 50 % of the total nominations during the year. The report also stated that in reality, these 6,850 nominations in Ontario translate to 13,571 fresh immigrants. This is owing to the addition of accompanying dependent/spouses to the province.
Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program
Furthermore, through the O.I.N.P., the province nominates candidates for economic immigration to get the Canada PR each year. O.I.N.P. is a large component of the federal Provincial Nominee Program. This program works with the participating provinces/territories to distribute the various benefits of immigration across Canada in an even manner.
Details regarding Candidates
Candidates having their profile in the federal Express Entry pool received 50 percent of the O.I.N.P. nominations in 2018. O.I.N.P. has these three streams aligned to EE:
• Human Capital Priorities,
• French-Speaking Skilled Worker
• Skilled Trades streams
Additionally, through these streams, Ontario searches for candidates who can meet the demands of the local labor market and also provides a nomination to them to get the PR. These nominated candidates receive 600 extra points in the CRS score. Among the 6,850 nominations issued by Ontario last year, the share of Human Capital Priorities Stream was 2,190 nominations.
Additionally, the share of the Skilled Trades Stream was 648 nominations and finally, for the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream, it was 387.
The breakup of the nominations
Also as per the O.I.N.P. report, a quarter of the nominations last year went to candidates having the work experience or a job offer in technology occupations. The origins of provincial nominees in Ontario were from 147 countries. The majority of candidates to get nomination were from India with 2651 nominations at 39 percent of the total nominations. At The Next place were the Chinese applicants receiving 1424 nominations.
