India all set to start new visa center in East Malaysia

India is planning to open a new visa service center in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia in August to address the needs of its people who are filing applications for visa to enter India.

Speaking on the same, the High Commissioner of India to Malaysia, T.S. Tirumurti, stated that every individual should follow bio-metric system as it was introduced by the India.

It may be recalled that the Government of India has introduced the biometric visa for Malaysia nationals who are planning to visit the subcontinent recently. Under bio-metric system, all visa applicants will be identified through the Irish scan, photograph, and fingerprints.

Tirumurti said that they are looking forward to minimize the inconvenience for nationals of Malaysia, including Sabah and the office will have the bio-metric facilities as well. He added that applicants can file their visa applications directly at the office, which will be processed in Kuala Lumpur.

In addition to the office in Kuala Lumpur, the High Commission has opened visa centers in Johore, Malacca, Penang, and Ipoh.

Apart from considerable investment in the pulp and paper sector with Sabah Forest Industry, majority of Indian firms were looking forward to investing in the oil and gas sectors in Sabah, stressed Tirumurti.
