India e tourist visa made tremendous boost of tourist inflow

With the push of Indian e tourist visa for the increasing number of countries, India seems to have reaping the benefits, as tourist numbers to India had registered an increase of almost 1000 percent from January to June this year.

The Indian government introduced e tourist visa on November 27, 2014, for the citizens of over 40 countries and since India has been extending the visas to more and more countries with recent extension to 36 countries on 15 August 2015.

The e-tourist visa has tremendously contribute the increase in tourist numbers, with 126,214 total tourists has arrived in India in the first half of this year when compared o 11,952 in the same period of last year which is 955.9 percent growth.

In the June, 15,557 tourists have utilized e-tourist visa facility compare to 2,112 in the June month of 2014.

The India e tourist visa enables a foreign tourist to apply for a visa through online by uploading their passport and a fee payment in online.

The authorities will process the application and will send an electronic travel authorization through email within the next 72 hours.

Most of the tourists coming to India are from USA (41.71 percent) followed by Australia (9.67 percent) and the Germany (7.21 percent). Countries like Canada, South Korea, Singapore, UAE, Russia, and Mexico also contributes a significant proportion to the tourist numbers.

The higher growth is mainly due to expanding the number of countries to utilize e-visa facility as compared to the visa on arrival scheme for 12 countries.
