India has filed a complaint with WTO regarding the matter of US temporary visa fee issue. It has challenged the system of US who hands out the temporary work visas to overseas nationals.

India has filed a complaint with WTO against US over visa fee issue

WTO has said that the complaint has been made with regard to the fee that has been charged by the US for certain visas that are made available for high skilled employees. The IT companies of India which also runs its operations in the US are among the frequent users of H-1B and L-1 visas which bring in thousands of Indian employees to the US.

A US Trade Representative spokesman, Andrew Bates has told that they are confident that the latest visa rule is consistent with their WTO obligations.

Meanwhile, Indian IT companies has welcomed India’s step of filing a complaint with the WTO against the US over visa fee issue.

While the industry is trying to get in touch with the US government, complaint filing has indicated that the Government of India wants to solve this matter at international level.
