Skill Level 3 is for Trade and Technicians with the Certificate IV or 3 years of work experience or Certificate III, which also includes 2 years of on job training.
A formal skills assessment is required by some applicants as a requirement of meeting the skill level. For example if an applicant is applying as a tradesperson and is being sponsored to work in trade occupations, then he needs to go for a trade test. The test will cost around $2,200 with the duration of 2-3 months.
If an applicant is going for the positions of Program/ Project Administrators and Special Managers then he needs to go through a skills assessment test, which requires the qualification and up to 3 years of work experience in the occupation. This will be costing around $ 810, and it will take 3-4 months of time to get processed.
Another requirement of 457 visa to be granted is that the applicant needs to show that he has been covered under health insurance policy. The applicant needs to show a certificate of the cover and a letter showing the right level of cover. The applicant needs to make sure that the cover won’t get lapse as the applicant needs to hold the level of cover when he comes to live in Australia on this 457 visa. If the applicant’s cover lapses during the stay period then, it will result in the cancellation of the 457 visa.
This 457 visa also covers the shortage of short-term labour, the employers’ needs to show that they have advertised for your position. And the occupations are Trade, Engineer and Nurses.
The applicants need to proof that they are good in the English Language. The applicant needs to take an IELTS test and score at least five points in every band. This English test requirement is exempted for those who hold passport from the countries like UK, USA, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand. And for those who have studied continuously for five years in an English medium at higher or secondary levels. And for those applicants whose base salary is $96,400.
The applicant needs to proof that he is properly skilled, and the position is genuine in certain occupations like cook, chef and restaurant or café manager. And for the business that has been started in less than a year of time period, the applicant needs to provide additional information to proof that the position he is applying for is genuine. And “Genuine Position” requirement is applied to those applicants who are sponsored by his family business. The applicant needs to provide evidence of the position being genuine and not meant for a secure entry.
The 457 work visa holder working in Australia for two years, then he is eligible for a permanent ENS (Employer Nomination Scheme) visa. This is also known as ENS visa’s “Temporary Residence Transition Stream”.
The 457 work visa holder might also get eligible for the General Skilled Migration. A skills assessment is required for this, and it also comes with an advantage that it doesn’t require employer support to apply for this.
