Large number of Australian 457 visas granted in Tasmania

Statistics revealed by the Immigration and Border Protection Department of Australia illustrates that the large numbers of 457 visas were granted to overseas workers with around 40% of increase all over the Tasmania.

Because of the continuing skills crisis, scores of visas were granted in the initial quarter of the year with an increment of 43%. There has been key increase in the visa number issued for the healthcare, hospitality and education sectors of Australia.

The association is ready to host the workshops in this month for explaining the process of 457 visa to employers who want to bring employees from overseas. According to the General Manager, Tasmanian Hospitality Association, Steve Old, they are going to reach out more far as they could.

He also said that they are trying for making sure that the industry understands various alternatives.  The officials from the immigration department would be available at the workshop for explaining about the costly and difficult process.

According to the statistics from Immigration Department,  at present, there are around 50 hospitality employees with 457 visa in Tasmania, and there are around 400 individuals on 457 visa all over the state. 

The increase in 457 visas granted all over the education sector in the state is the outcome of additional lecturers hired from overseas.

This Australian Temporary skilled work visa (subclass 457) permits the employers to hire overseas citizens for four years to deal with the shortage of skills.
