Malaysia cancels entry visa requirements for students of Maldives
The Maldivian foreign Ministry had said on 19th April, 2014 (Thursday) that the government of Malaysia has removed the previous immigration rules, according to which the students of Maldives are required to acquire an entry visa, prior to their entry into the Southeast Asia nations for studies.

At present, Maldivian students intending to visit Malaysia for studies need not acquire an entry visa in advance.

Malaysian government had modified the immigration policy in January, after receiving the Student Visa Approval Letter. According to this approval, as soon as the students submit their visa applications at the embassy, High Commission of Malaysia in Sri Lanka approves their entry visa.

Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, President of the Republic of Maldives, had said that the students of Maldives in Malaysia were going through visa problems regularly, and the government had worked to solve these issues.
