Malaysia might extend e-visa to travelers from India

Malaysia is planning to extend its facility of e-tourist visa to the Indian tourists as it hope to lure around 10 lakh travelers this year. Around 7, 22,141 tourists from India had traveled to Malaysia previous year.

According to Dato Daljit Singh, Advisor, Tourism and Culture Minister, we are looking for 10 lakh Indian tourists this year.  The tourism sector is contributing around 12% to the economy of Malaysia and for them India has been a key market.

He informed that Malaysia is working on its e-visa for China and this facility might soon be offered to the tourists from India as well. After completion of work with the government of China, we would also work with the government of India on this e- tourist visa.

Large number of tourists from India visit Malaysia, mostly from Mumbai and Delhi and there has been an increase of young couples who are visiting Malaysia.

As part of its measures for increasing the awareness among travelers, Tourism Malaysia has started ‘Sales Mission to India and Sri Lanka from 25th Feb to 3rd Mar 2016.

The officials from Tourism Malaysia would also visit many cities like Lucknow, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Kochi and they would also visit Colombo.

The Minister also said that around two million Indian citizens live in Malaysia and it is like the second home for the travelers from India with various types of Indian food available here.
