Malaysia to relax its visa free conditions for tourists from China

The government of Malaysia has decided to relax its conditions for the visa free entry for the citizens from China. The government has enabled at least two individuals can enter the country under the new condition.

Malaysia had previously set that the visa free entry for the citizens from China will be permitted only for the groups of minimum 20 individuals.

The Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Datuk Seri Mohammed Nazri Aziz, had announced this yesterday and also said that the prior clause by the department of immigration had been reviewed after discussion with the Home Ministry.

Other rules are set to be imposed next month that includes registration system for group tourists, restricting their period of stay to two weeks, they should have the return ticket to China, they should have the direct entry to the Malaysian airport.

According to the Tourism and Cultural Minister, the groups are also restricted from applying for any other passes. He also said that the government of China had urged to screen its citizens before issuing entry into the country.

On replying to the issue that the citizens from China were asked to pay an entry fee of around RM500-RM1000 to the officials from the immigration department in the airports, he had advised them to lodge the report at the office of tourism here.
