Indian Citizens who frequently travel to the United States can avail the facility of Global Entry from August 2016. A program offered by the US Customs and Border Protection that grants pre-approved permits to Indians. 

Now Indian Flyers Can Avail US Global Entry Scheme

Indian Government has signed an agreement with the United States to facilitate Indians at selected American airports. 

A Home Ministry official said "Hopefully, by the end of July or first week of August, Indian citizens can apply before an US consulate for entry under the Global Entry." 

However, allowing the Indian nationals into the global entry program is the discretion of US officials, the track record each and every applicant will be verified before allowing the applicant into the entry scheme. 

Initially under this pre-approved entry program, notable personalities of India, film stars, industrialists, former presidents, former prime ministers will be enrolled in the program. 

Possibly 2000 prominent Indians will be included in the list, and it may expand gradually after scrutinizing individual’s background.  

The people covered in the program can enter the US through kiosks at the US airports. The Global entry kiosks will read the passports and scanners verify the fingerprints and complete a customs declaration procedure. 

After the regular procedure, the traveler will receive a transaction receipt and directs the traveler to exit. 

The Global Entry Programme includes only those individuals who do not have any criminal background and not connected to any money laundering case. 

The United States had similar kind of agreement with other countries on this global initiative and India is the ninth most country which had signed an agreement with the United States.  

The Global Entry facility is accessible to the foreign travelers at 40 US airports, and 12 pre-clearance locations. 

Totally 1.8 million people are enrolled in the Global Entry Programme and every month 50 000 new applications are processed.
