Both series of cutoff dates for “filing” and cutoff dates for “final action” has been included in the Visa Bulletin of October.

Filing cutoff dates gives the indication when an immigrant intends to file their applications for an immigrant visa or for status adjustment. And the “final action” cutoff dates indicate when the application for immigration visa may get approved, granting of permanent residency and adjustment of status application.

This modified Visa Bulletin is in response to the request by US President Barack Obama, and that the system must be more balanced and predictable for determining the availability of immigrant visa.

The charts of new approval and filing cutoff date for both family based and employment based immigration categories are mentioned in the October’s Visa Bulletin.
