Ontario invites 988 Skilled Trades and French-Speaking candidates in January

January 30, 2019
Ontario issued 988 invitations to apply, seeking the provincial nomination for PR to Express Entry candidates in the French-Speaking Skilled Worker and Skilled Trades streams during January 2019.

The details

On January 24, the OINP issued 889 NOIs in the first draw held in 2019 by using the Skilled Trades Stream, which has a link with the federal system of Express Entry. It was necessary for the Candidates receiving the NOI in this draw to have a profile in Express Entry. The starting date was Jan 24, 2018, and the ending date was Jan 24, 2019. Through the Skilled Trades Stream, the OINP can search the Express Entry pool for candidates presently residing in Ontario. The norm here is having one-year work experience full-time, or an equivalent part-time work experience, in a skilled trade that appears in Minor Group 633 or Major Group 72, 73, or 82, as per the NOC of Canada.

Do not need a Job offer

Additionally, the candidates do not require a job offer for applying under these two Streams, they have to meet all the obligatory requirements (federal and provincial) as specified by the OINP. Such Candidates, who are successful in obtaining the provincial nomination in these streams having an alignment with the EE, get 600 additional CRS points. Moreover, this serves as an effective guarantee to get the Invitation to Apply for Canadian PR through the Express Entry.

The first step

The first step here is that the candidates must create an EE profile to seek a consideration under the Streams.

Three invitation rounds in French-Speaking Stream

In January so far the authorities conducted three invitation rounds for FSSW Stream, having an alignment with the EE. 28 NOIs were also issued in the recent round on January 24. On January 11 and 17 two rounds were held for the French Speaking Skilled Worker Stream. These issued 71 NOIs.

Furthermore, candidates of the Francophone category had to show proficiency in the French language equivalent to a CLB level 7 and also meet the other requirements, like having adequate funds for settling in Ontario.

Additional details

All candidates receiving the Notifications by using the two Streams had to be eligible for the Canadian Experience Class or the Federal Skilled Worker Class. Additionally, they had to meet other criteria of the province.

Presently Ontario has issued 2,500 NOIs to EE candidates by using the three streams to get the provincial nomination. This includes 1,493 invitations issued in Human Capital Priorities Stream on Jan 14. All candidates receiving invitations in these Streams have to submit the complete application in 45 days after obtaining the NOI. We bring all the details before our patrons and they can contact us
