Results are out for Australian SkillSelect 22nd January 2016
The Australian SkillSelect invitations rounds that are conducted on 8th January got the results on 22nd January 2016.
There are two types of visa subclasses
Skilled – Independent (subclass 189) – Total number of invitations issued is 2400.
Skilled – Regional Provisional (subclass 489) – Total number of invitations issued are 5.
Total number of invitations that are issued during the year 2015-16 ie from July 2015 till January 2016 for the Skilled – Independent (subclass 189) are 17,400. And for Skilled – Regional Provisional (subclass 489) -340. For both the subclasses total number of invitations issued is 17,740.
Procedure of invitations and cutoffs
The highest ranked scoring candidates are invited to apply for a visa. Candidates who have equal scoring points at the time when they reach the score of subclass specifies the invitation arrangement. Candidates are invited before the final dates with previous dates that depend on the interest.
Skilled – Independent (subclass 189)
Points score -60
Visa date of effect -20th Jan 2016
Skilled – Regional Provisional (subclass 489)
Points score -65
Visa date of effect – 5th October 2015
Due to high number of EOIs received for the occupations, invitations would be granted on the pro information basis for each month based on the full year. SkillSelect initially allot the places to skilled independent (subclass 189) visas and then residual to skilled –Regional (subclass 489) provisional family sponsored visas. If the entire places are taken up by the subclass 189 then there would be no invitations granted for subclass 489 visas in these occupations.
