Saskatchewan immigration increased the number of target occupations significantly which qualify in its Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand categories.

In the past, it had published a list comprising 19 occupations that are eligible in the streams of Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program.  Additionally, on September 18, 2019, the Program has published a list of 129 excluded occupations. The eligible occupations list exceeds 200 categories effectively.

The Excluded Occupations List covers Senior managers in various categories, allied services officers, professionals in artistic pursuits, Recreation, sports, fitness, insurance and immigration, professionals in Forestry Petroleum, Aerospace and Landscape architects, Registered nurses, Specialist physicians,  Dentists, General practitioners,  Veterinarians, Optometrists, Allied health practitioners and finally the Supervisors in various categories apart from many other small categories.

After this, Saskatchewan joins Alberta, as a province to publish, the excluded occupations list. Other provinces publish lists of target occupations in their Provincial Nominee Program.

Saskatchewan Occupation in-Demand


This category caters to skilled workers who do not possess the job offer but have top skills in the provincial in-demand occupation. Also the Candidates outside Canada or having a proof of legal standing in Canada qualify in it.

The Requirements for the Occupation-In-Demand Sub-Category

  • Scoring at least 60 points in the point assessment grid;
  • Having a minimum language score of Canadian Language Benchmark 4 Certain Employers and bodies can also demand a higher level;
  • Having completed post-secondary education, apprenticeship, or training of one year similar to the Canadian education system and earning certificate, diploma, or degree
  • Diplomas/Degrees obtained outside Canada are subject to Educational Credential Assessment;
  • One-year work experience during the last 10 years in a field of education/training occupation, and In the NOC A, B, 0 job that is not included in the excluded list
  • Obtaining the proper provincial license if that is the requirement of your field
  • A proof of settlement funds/plan.
  • Paying the online $300 application fee (non-refundable)

Saskatchewan Express Entry


This category caters to skilled workers who desire to live/work in Saskatchewan and belong to the federal Pool of Express Entry. Candidates residing outside Canada and those having a proof of legal standing in Canada qualify in it.

The Requirements for the Saskatchewan Express Entry Sub-Category

  • Having profile in the Pool, with its number as well as job seeker validation code;
  • Scoring at least 60 points in the Program point assessment grid;
  • Providing test results (valid) for the language from a testing agency matching with the profile in Express Entry;
  • Having completed post-secondary education, apprenticeship, or training of one year similar to the Canadian education system in and earning certificate, diploma, or degree
  • Diplomas/Degrees obtained outside Canada are subject to Educational Credential Assessment;
  • A work experience of One-year during the last 10 years in a Skilled profession of non-trade nature;
  • A work experience of Two years in skilled trades during the last five years; or
  • One year of work experience in the previous 3 years (trade as well as non-trade nature) and in the NOC A, B, 0 job that is not included in the excluded list
  • Obtaining the proper provincial license if that is the requirement of your field or in the skilled trade, additionally for skilled trades, a certificate is necessary from the Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission Saskatchewan
  • A proof of settlement funds/plan.
  • Paying the online $300 fee for application (non-refundable)
