Saskatchewan issues 596 Invitations in its First Draw for 2019

On January 16 Saskatchewan has invited 596 skilled workers to submit an application for immigration in the first Expression of Interest draw for 2019.

In this draw, 362 Invitations were issued by using the provincial stream linked to Express Entry. Candidates had to score 63 points. The Occupations in-Demand stream also invited 234 candidates and the score was 66 points. Additionally, all invited EOI candidates had Educational Credential Assessments, which is a norm for Saskatchewan applications.

The province also has a plan to conduct one draw for every month in the future. Saskatchewan conducted eight draws totally under this EOI system.

Furthermore, in the previous draw, held on Dec 6, 2018, it issued 596 invitations. The candidates had to reach a minimum score of 66 in the Occupations In-Demand stream and 63 points in the Saskatchewan Express Entry.

 Process for Saskatchewan Expression of Interest


1. Submitting the EOI profile.

2. Entering the pool of EOI candidates.


3. Selection of EOI candidates.


4. Issuing invitations to apply in regular draws.


5. Candidates can submit a complete application in 60 days and finally,


6. Program officials assess all applications and take a decision


The Requirements for the Occupation-In-Demand Sub-Category


• Scoring 60 points on the SINP points grid;


• Having a language score of CLB 4.;


• Completing one year of post-secondary training/education, or apprenticeship comparable to the education system in Canada and also earning a diploma/ degree, or certificate. (The Degrees and diplomas obtained out of Canada need the Educational Credential Assessment);


• One-year work experience in the last 10 years in a field of education or occupation and in an occupation listed in NOC A, B, 0 of the in-demand occupation list.


• Obtaining the proper license in Saskatchewan if the field requires it.


• Having proof of funds for settlement and a settlement plan and finally,


• Paying a non-refundable application fee online ($300).


The Requirements for the Saskatchewan Express Entry Sub-Category

Such Candidates, who are from outside Canada, or have a legal status here, qualify in this immigration category, but they must not be a refugee claimant. Additionally, they must have:


• A profile in the EE Pool, with a profile number and job seeker code;


• Score 60 points on the Program points assessment grid;


• Provide satisfactory language test results from a selected testing agency to match with the Express Entry profile;


• Completing one year of post-secondary training/education, or apprenticeship comparable to the education system in Canada and also earning a diploma/ degree, or certificate. (The Degrees and diplomas obtained out of Canada need the Educational Credential Assessment);


• Having at least one experience requirements in a field of education/training:


o One year work experience in the last ten  years in a skilled profession  of non-trade nature;


o Two years work experience in a skilled trade in the last five years; or finally


o One year work experience in Canada in the last three years  for both trades and non-trade categories,


• Having work experience in a top skilled job in NOC A, B, 0 that exists on the in-demand occupation list.


• Obtaining the proper license in Saskatchewan where the profession is regulated or is a skilled trade. Candidates of skilled trades require a certificate from the Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission of the province.


• Having proof of funds for settlement and a settlement plan and finally,


• Payment of a $300 application fee online.
