The United States consulate in Chennai has seen the increasing number of students who are interested in studying overseas and are applying for the US student visa the previous year. Increase in 40 percent has made India the second largest country where a large number of students from the country migrate to the United States for education.
Consul general Phillip min said at the US universities fair which happened recently in the city, that there are over one lakh students from Indian in the universities of the US, and more than half of them were into STEM subjects such as science, technology, mathematics and engineering.
Over 20 universities hailing from the United States of America have marked their attendance in the recently concluded fair.. The regional officer, United States India Education and Foundation Maya said that there was an increasing interest from the students of high school apart from the graduate students to pursue their higher education in abroad.
She added on saying that - apart from their major subjects, students are also keen choosing few of minors such as sports, arts or subjects like computers along with their subjects.
