The visa fee waiver for Taiwanese and Chinese is likely to encourage foreign tourist’s arrivals in Thailand which will be in effect from 09 August 2014 to 08 November 2014.
The Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) expects that there would be more number of tourist arrivals starting August.
TCT’s vice president, Thanate Vorasaran has expressed hope that the number of Chinese entering Thailand will increase with this new initiative.
The TCT anticipates that the total arrivals from China would reach 4.3 million visitors in 2014, with the execution of this new program, which is higher compared to previous forecast of 3.8 million visitors.
TCT will submit the report of Chinese arrivals in Thailand during August and September to National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), with the hope that NCPO would express its satisfaction and extend the visa fee waiver program for further six month up to 2015.
