UK grants citizenship to 800,000 immigrants under Coalition
A total of 775,029 immigrants were granted with full citizenship since 2010.
The new figures published by the Conservative Immigration Minister, James Brokenshire, disclosed that a number of immigrants representing 207,989 have acquired citizenship previous year higher than in any other year since the Coalition came to power.
Naturalization is the most common path for immigrants to attain British citizenship. Immigrants will be able to apply for naturalized citizenship provided that they satisfy the condition of residing in the UK for minimum period of five years, possess good character and intention to settle in the country.
Additionally, they should have to prove their English language proficiency and qualify the Life in the UK test based on customs and traditions of Britain.
