As per the latest university rankings that were revealed, UK is dominating the higher education all over the Europe, taking quarter of places and 46 universities has been listed in the top 200 European universities.
The list has also revealed that German universities are closing the gap with around 36 universities making their presence in the list.
Scotland’s St. Andrews University has been placed on 35th position, behind Edinburgh University, which is on 7th place and Glasgow University, which is on 28th position. These three Scottish universities have made their place in top 50 universities in the UK.
According to the spokesperson of the St. Andrews University, for small country like Scotland, to have three universities in the Top 50 European universities is a big achievement and evidence to the quality of the institutions, their staff, and students and the very high standards of Scotland academic programs.
He also informed that the St Andrews is the most foreign of Scotland universities, as more than third of our students invest in Scotland and come to study in Scotland from abroad. The foreign student fees support many Scottish jobs and students are adding immeasurably to the culture and economic strength of Scotland.
St Andrews University contributes around $485 million to the economy of Scotland yearly with the substantial portion of that comes through foreign student fees. The university also supports 9000 jobs as the foreign students choose the high quality Scottish academic programs.
Phil Baty, Rankings editor told that the foreign students were hugely significant to the higher education of the UK and the wider economy.
Oxford University was the highest ranked European university this year, followed by Cambridge and Imperial University.
