The US consulate in Mumbai seeks to interview visa applicants numbering more than 1,000 on May 28 here, as a part of Student Visa Day celebrations, a consulate official stated on Tuesday. On that day, the US consulate has plans for and intends to exclusively open its doors for student applicants applying for F1 visas. These F1 visas are a requirement for alien students to enter the US and study in any of its universities or colleges or high schools, etc. Even seminaries, conservatories, etc. are not exempted from this requirement.
In a statement, the US Consul-General, Peter Haas, said that about 100,000 students are carrying on or pursuing their higher studies in the US universities thereby enriching the campuses of the US universities and also creating and strengthening relationships that will last a long time.
