US DOS has issued Visa bulletin update for January 2016

December 11, 2015
The US State Department (DOS) has issued the Visa Bulletin for January 2016 and it is showing some minor movements in the job based visa categories.  The most important movement was in the category of Indian EB-2 which had advanced by another eight months to 1st February 2008 (the December 2015 bulletin is showing a ten month leap).

There was also movement in the filing dates in the job based categories , except in both the  Mexico and All Chargeability Areas EB-3 and other categories of workers, which had moved from 1st September 2015 to 1st Jan 2016.

The January month Visa Bulletin had also advised about the forthcoming, scheduled expiration of the pilot program for immigrant investor (EB-5 Visas) on 11th December 2015, until the Congress had acted for extending these programs.

The Visa Bulletin had stated that no I5 visas might by granted abroad or final action taken on the adjustment of status cases, after 11th December 2015. For this category, the cutoff date has been listed as unavailable for the month of January.  Congress is presently considering an expansion of I5 visa category, but there is no conviction when such legislative action might occur.

If there is lawmaking act that that enlarge this category for the fiscal year 2016, the cutoff dates will immediately become current for January month, for all nations except China-mainland born I5.
